Self-appreciation
Nowadays lots of people, mostly teenage girls, are not satisfied with with themselves. They aren’t content about the way they look, the way they dress or even their abilities. They compare themselves with others at any opportunity like it’s a race, or a competition.
As an experiment, I went to tumblr and typed ‘perfect’, these were some of the things people wrote:
“sorry I can’t be perfect enough”
“i want to be taller. taller and slimmer and leaner and perfect. thats all i want. why is it so hard?”
“i just want to be pretty, likable, social, interesting, and creative. I want to be perfect.’
“Do you want to know what most of us girls worry about? How were constantly being judged, how much we are liked by people, how much we weigh, how much more liked we would be if we was possibly prettier, richer, skinnier, smarter, or anything else along the lines of being classed as ‘perfect’ nowadays. Your not ugly, society is. Just saying.”
Stuff like that.
It’s really sad, I guess, to read all these posts. I wonder if anyone ever told them they were beautifully and wonderfully made, or whether they’ve known it all their lives yet negative thoughts still come in.
We should all fill our brains with positive thinking!
I bought this shirt yesterday and it inspired this post. :)
Actually, I think it would be more effective if it said “God <3′s me”
